“The Matrix is everywhere. It is all around you… It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.”

— Morpheus, The Matrix (1999)

“At the center of your being, you have the answer; you know who you are and you know what you want.”

— Lao Tzu

Intuition, as defined by Caroline Myss, is an inner faculty of knowing that delivers sudden, precise insights—moments when you feel, “I’ve just had a hit,” or “I’m receiving information.” Unlike fantasy, which is pleasant, soothing, and safe, true intuition arrives with a sense of discomfort and demands courage to follow. Intuition is subtle yet powerful, pointing you toward truths you may wish to avoid, while fantasy keeps you comfortably entertained. The measure of genuine intuition is that it compels you toward action, sometimes unsettling, whereas fantasy leaves you passive. And notably, intuition grows louder in the quiet of night, when external distractions fade, and the inner signals pulse more strongly. To cultivate clear intuition, you must practice acting on small intuitive hits—because without the courage to follow these smaller nudges, you’ll never recognize or trust the larger ones when they come.

Introduction

There’s something I need to admit:

I’ve spent years living a life that looked good on paper—but felt empty and devoid inside.

From the outside, I was achieving. Hitting goals. Following the script. But beneath the surface, a quiet war was unfolding between the voice inside me and the noise of the world outside.

I’d feel these sudden pulses—an intuitive “hit”, a spark of curiosity, a fleeting thought that whispered, “Go there. Try this. Leave that.” But every time, my logical brain shot it down:

Be realistic. You can’t just follow feelings. What’s wrong with you, you know better. What if you’re wrong?

I’d convince myself it was fantasy. Unreliable. Or a distraction. Or even worse, dangerous.

But deep down, I knew the truth: my intuition and curiosity were trying to lead me somewhere real. Somewhere authentic. Somewhere only I could go.

And yet, the Matrix—the system, the culture, the expectations—wanted me to stay plugged in. Obedient. Predictable. Distracted. Shackled.

So I stayed. For two decades.

I’m writing this letter because I’m done. Matrix programming will get you nowhere but burnt out, angry, resentful—I’m in the process of stepping out of the Matrix for good—and I want you to come with me.

Because if you’ve read this far, I know you feel it too.

The disappointment. The Emptiness. The restlessness. The pull to a “better life”. The quiet knowing that the life you’re living isn’t the one you’re here to live.

This isn’t just about intuition. It’s about freedom. Authenticity. Alignment. And finally living outside the Matrix.

But first, we have to talk about the problem. The real problem.

The Matrix Keeps You Small

“Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.”

— Morpheus, The Matrix

“If you follow the usual path, If you go to school, go to college, get a job, buy a house, pay into your retirement plan. You leave your entire life up to the goodwill of your government, So the question becomes, Do you think your government cares about you? Wake up Neo…”

— Andrew Tate

Here’s the truth nobody tells you:

The Matrix isn’t just “sci-fi”, it’s a metaphor of the invisible system you’ve been conditioned into your entire life.

It is the default path.

It’s the expectations from your parents. The career path that feels safe, promising. The degree you were promised would set you free. The way you were taught to be “realistic,” “practical,” and “sensible” according to society’s prescribed program.

It’s the corporate ladder. The social media feeds. The endless noise demanding and stealing your attention so you don’t have time to listen inward.

The Matrix wants you obedient, not original, not authentic, and certainly not aligned.

Why?

Because obedient people:

  • Buy what they’re told.

  • Work where they’re told.

  • Believe what they’re told.

  • Never question what they're told.

The Matrix thrives on certainty, predictability, and control.

But your intuition and curiosity?

They’re the opposite of control.

They’re your inner compass, they’re the signal “hits” that lead you out of the default path and into your authentic life.

Why You’ve Stopped Trusting Intuition

You weren’t born doubting yourself.

You came into the world naturally listening to and following curiosity. As a child, you explored everything. You didn’t need a five-year plan. You followed wonder, moment by moment.

But the world taught you otherwise:

  • “Be realistic.”

  • “Don’t make waves.”

  • “Stick to what you know.”

  • “Follow the plan.”

Every time you felt an intuitive “hit” and ignored it, the signal got fainter. The ability to recognize it, trust it, and heed it, became obscured.

Every time you dismissed your curiosity as foolish, your intuition as unreliable, you taught your mind not to trust those signals.

Now you’re left feeling:

  • Disconnected.

  • Anxious.

  • Like life is happening to you instead of through you.

You crave a sign. A big, obvious signal that it’s safe to leave the Matrix.

But that’s not how intuition works.

The Cloud By Day And The Fire By Night

Intuition + Curiosity = “Signal” = Path

“The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. He did not take away the pillar of cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.”

— Exodus 13:21-22

The Israelites in the wilderness followed a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night.

In daylight, the cloud moved ahead—gentle, subtle, yet steady.

In darkness, the fire blazed bright enough to illuminate the next step—even though the entire path wasn’t visible.

This is how your intuition and curiosity work:

  • Curiosity is your cloud by day. It moves in the open. It’s gentle but persistent. It whispers, “Come explore this.”

  • Intuition is your fire by night. It glows in the dark, when logic can’t see the way. It says, “This is your next step—even if it’s terrifying.”

Your soul is designed to follow these signals.

But the Matrix attempts to overwrite your soul’s default settings.

So you stay stuck waiting for perfect certainty. You want a full map before you take a single step.

But that’s just it, the map, it doesn’t exist.

…only the light of the lamp does.

How To Recognize Intuition

Let’s clear this up right now:

Intuition is not fantasy.

Fantasy is soothing. It’s an escape hatch your mind builds when you’re miserable.

Intuition, on the other hand, often feels uncomfortable. It’s the quiet message that:

  • Disrupts your plans.

  • Challenges your comfort zone.

  • Demands courage.

As one teacher puts it:

“Intuition makes you feel uncomfortable. Fantasy doesn’t… with clear intuition comes a package of courage you don’t get with fantasy.”

— Caroline Myss (paraphrased excerpt)

That’s how you know the difference.

Fantasy keeps you safe in your mind. Intuition pulls you into action—even when your heart races.

And here’s another secret:

Intuition gets stronger at night.

Because in darkness, your distractions quiet down. Your thoughts soften. The Matrix loosens its grip.

At night, the fire glows brighter. That’s when the throbbing of true guidance gets louder.

But only if you’re willing to listen.

If You Can’t Follow Small Intuitive “Hits” You Won’t Get A Large One

You keep waiting for a giant lightning bolt from the sky to tell you:

  • Quit your job.

  • Start the business.

  • Move across the country.

  • End the relationship.

But the universe doesn’t send big signs to people who ignore small ones.

Intuition is a series of whispers that grow louder as you prove you’re listening.

You want divine revelation. But you’re missing the divine hints dropping into your mind every day:

  • A fleeting thought you can’t explain.

  • A strange curiosity that lights you up.

  • A quiet discomfort that something in your life no longer fits.

That’s your fire by night. That’s your cloud by day.

Following Intuition Is Freeing

Here’s the part the Matrix doesn’t want you to know:

Following your intuition is not just personal development—it’s a revolutionary act.

Because a person who:

  • Trusts their inner knowing,

  • Questions the system,

  • Pursues authentic alignment—

cannot be controlled.

They don’t stay small.

They don’t buy things to numb themselves.

They don’t settle for a life they secretly hate.

The Matrix wants you plugged in. Intuition demands you be awake.

“But What If I’m Wrong?”

Let’s address the voice in your head right now:

“But what if I follow my intuition and ruin my life?”

The Matrix has trained you to believe that one wrong step means disaster.

But life is not a single irreversible choice. It’s a series of micro-corrections.

Start small:

  • Follow one curiosity for a single hour.

  • Test one intuitive hit in a low-risk way.

  • Let your next step reveal itself instead of demanding the entire path.

Intuition grows stronger as you practice following it.

The courage grows too.

The goal here is to build trust in what you are feeling and hearing on the inside.

The Cost Of Staying Plugged In

The biggest risk is not following your intuition.

The biggest risk is:

  • Waking up at 60 and realizing you never lived your own life.

  • Feeling like a stranger in your own body.

  • Knowing you stayed plugged into the Matrix because it felt safe—and wondering what could have been.

You deserve better than that.

What Life Outside The Matrix Looks Like

Life outside the Matrix doesn’t mean abandoning all responsibility.

It means:

  • Acting on small nudges that feel true.

  • Saying yes to curiosity instead of dismissing it as unreliable.

  • Tolerating the discomfort of stepping off the default or “known” path.

It means building a life that feels deeply yours.

A life in alignment. A life you don’t need to escape from.

Because freedom isn’t just external—it’s the ability to trust yourself enough to follow where your soul wants to go.

Your Next Step

So here’s your challenge:

This week, pay attention to the smallest flicker of intuition.

The quiet hit that says:

  • Reach out to that person.

  • Read that book.

  • Change your routine.

  • Start that project.

Don’t talk yourself out of it.

Follow it as immediately as you can.

Not with a grand leap—but with one tiny, tangible step.

Because each step chips away at the Matrix’s hold on you.

And one day, you’ll look up and realize:

  • You’re no longer plugged in.

  • You’re living a life that feels authentic and free.

  • You’ve followed the cloud by day and the fire by night all the way to the promised land.

Final Thought

I’m not writing this because I’ve figured it all out.

I’m writing this because I’m in the wilderness right now—learning to follow the fire by night and the cloud by day.

I’m building a life outside the Matrix, one small intuitive hit at a time.

If you feel the restlessness too…

Come walk this path with me.

Because your intuition isn’t just calling you for fun.

It’s calling you to your destiny.

Intuition + Curiosity = “Signal” = Path
